Terrapin India Style Brown Ale

Terrapin Beer Co., Athens, GA
India Style Brown Ale
6% ABV

The India Style Brown Ale is one of Terrapin’s year-round beers. Thought the turtle mascot is cradling a sitar on the label, the term “India” refers to the large amount and variety of hops (5 kinds) used in this brown ale, a feature typical of India Pale Ales, and not Indian classical music.

The nose is mega-piney and surprisingly verdant for a brown ale. The brown sugar and hops bitterness are well balanced, making this brew a success.  To my palate, this would stand best alongside a spicy main course like jerk chicken, but would not pair up nicely with curry.
