Tommyknocker Maple Nut Brown Ale

Tommyknocker Brewery, Idaho Springs, CO
Maple Nut Brown Ale
Brown Ale
4.5% ABV
12 oz. bottle into normal short glasses

The beer connoisseur must challenge herself. Her palate must remain pliant, flexible, and strong. When the beer connoisseur eats a burnt asparagus tip, she must imprint its every flavor-nuance on her palate like an insect from Jurassic Park encased in whatever that stuff was that preserved insects in Jurassic Park. When a garbage truck emits a fetid odor near her house as she prepares to enjoy a cup of coffee, she must inhale deeply and learn those noxious tales.

We cracked open the T-Knocker M-Nut Brown.  Next thing you know, we had aliquoted the 12 oz. bottle evenly into three glasses. Tasters steadied themselves.

Nininja: “Wow, this is surprisingly…not gross!”
Perrinator: “Yeah!”
KG: “…would you drink it again?”
Nininja: “Maybe not under normal circumstances, but this would be good for a gingerbread party.”

Folks accustomed to tasting a bit of maple syrup in their beers because of barrel-aging will be pleasantly surprised to find T-Knocker M-Nut also delivers a subtle maple note without clubbing you the head with sweetness.

Verdict: Tasty. Plus, what’s not to like about the olde-timey label?

  1. Have actually had bad dreams about the hobgoblin on the label.
