Terrapin Pumpkinfest

Terrapin Beer Co., Athens, Georgia
Oktoberfest/Pumpkin beer
6.1% ABV
12 0z. glass bottle

This beer purports to be an Oktoberfest/Pumpkin-beer blend. It pours the most beautiful ruby color I’ve ever seen (a color I unfortunately failed to capture due a low camera battery). It has a strong maltiness, almost justifying its name of “**-fest.” But more than anything, the cinnamon completely dominates the malt and other spices, leaving the mouth totally overwhelmed.

I’m not convinced Pumpkin beers should exist at all, and I’m certainly not convinced that an Oktoberfest is enhanced or improved by the addition of spices and pumpkin. That said, when Perrinator refused to finish his glass, I happily sipped his portion while watching television. Keep in mind that I’m also the kind of person who might just take a real cinnamon stick and absent-mindedly suck on that– an experience not so different from drinking this beer.
