Lake of Bays Mocha Porter

Lake of Bays Brewing Co., Baysville Ontario
Mocha Porter
5.2% ABV
on draught

C’est What? has everything you could want in a clean, cavernous, underground saloon: ample selection of Ontario beers, a pool table, inoffensive music, kind-hearted Canadian barkeeps, and welcoming mood-lighting. We didn’t talk to any other people, but if we had, we’re confident they would have been friendly.

The Mocha Porter begins with a familiar soy sauce smell, then segues to a burnt soy sauce taste, and concludes with a tamari jolt. Well, the tamari is actually quite faint, though it is one of the few flavors present throughout. It is not sweet. It reminded all of us of a stout, though admittedly, the porter/stout border is unpatrolled. Decent overall.
