**We now return to where we left off in our short tour of Canadian beers, sampled at C’est What?**

The last in our Canadian line-up was brewed by C’est What? themselves. Perhaps our least favorite of the bunch, it had a startling array of flavors, but was too sweet and malt-forward. Vanilla, cream soda, Thai iced tea, and fake blackberry were the standouts. What I eventually concluded is that it most closely resembles strawberry wine. My experience with strawberry wine is strictly musical. Yet songs like that by The Band (coincidentally a [4/5] Canadian group) have created an indelible aromatic image of the stuff in my mind’s palate. Why do people like to sing about strawberry wine?

These choice lyrics from the Deana Carter song of the same title best suit this particularly syrupy beer:

He was working through college on my grandpa’s farm.
I was thirsting for knowledge and he had a car.
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child.
When one restless summer we found love growin’ wild.
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path.
It’s funny how those memories they last.Like strawberry wine and seventeen.
The hot July moon saw everything.
My first taste of love oh bittersweet.
Green on the vine.
Like strawberry wine.

All this strange sweetness was followed by an abrupt finish.

None of us sensed any caraway, which may be a good thing.
